This site sits near the top of Algarve's highest mountain. The topography is very steep and challenging. We set the house in 3 levels: The top being the car arrival zone. The intermediate being the house and pool. The lower level being the detached studio and lower garden. Planters, rock gardens and retaining walls were some of the tools used to control the levels and obtain the great rewards of this site: the stunning long views to the Algarve sea shore. The Foia House is a place for contemplation, relaxation and connection.
A mixed-use 7HA masterplan in Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia. The design aims to create a sustainable community where people can live, work and come together in wonderful gardens and retail spaces surrounded by nature. All spaces are surrounded and connected by luscious gardens, providing residents with a heightened sense of quality of life. Pedestrian traffic is optimized by canopies and tree lines for a new and more organic lifestyle.
A resort set in the hills of Lagos, near the most beautiful beaches of Algarve. Algarve is a world-famous beach
destination in the south of Portugal. The project is set to create an alternative experience to the mass-tourism
of the coast line. Focused on a strong interaction with the rural setting, and paying tribute to the architectural
vernacular heritage of the region, this project will enable for relaxation, fun and experience.
Office building in Fort Bonifacio´s Uptown district in Manila, designed to host the headquarters of america bank JP Morgan. Designed for Megaworld, this commission was comprised of façade design and interior design only. Sleek design based on the concept of a “pure object”.
Winner of a design competition to refurbish the town’s main entertainment hub. Growing up in Oliveira de Azeméis, I recall this building with great fondness. My strongest memory was that of the sliding curtain before the beginning of the show. I brought the curtains to the facade as part of the design concept idea. Entering the building becomes that moment of magic.
Designed with a team @ Asylum Singapore, Johnnie Walker House is a 4 stories whisky club located in the heart of historic Beijing. It was an existing, yet unfinished building that had to be remodelled to house this special function. Inside the building there are many different functions from a multimedia knowledge center, to private dining and a night club.
